  1. Resolved Question: How long till Alli stops giving me Anal Leakage?
  2. 23 May 2008 at 1:58pm
So yeah, I try this new Alli diet pill, it says something like if I eat bad too much to watch out for the side effects, my GOD what side effects! They should put that in big bold letters on the box! "WARNING! If you buy this product and you can't eat like a Rabbit every day, invest in black underwear and expect to do your own laundry to help with the embarrassment. Imagine my surprise when I was like," you know I been good all week, I think I will eat a nice greasy slice of Pizza!" Had I known that the next time I pulled my underwear down I was going to get a big surprise I would have changed my mind. I mean here I am pulling down my tighty whities when I see this big orange wet spot on the back. It's scared me I thought I was dying, good thing I didn't call 911, could you imagine that embarrassing call? "Hello 911 Emergency" "Yes, send an ambulance, I think I am dying" "What's the matter sir?" "There's greasy orange substance leaking out of my poop chute!" "very funny sir, did you know it is a felony to prank call emergency services?" *click* What scares me too was the orange spotting in the water, it's like you threw a KFC drum stick in the toilet and all the grease came up to the surface! Though since the toilet spots are a darker orange and this happened in a dimly lit bathroom it looked more like blood, I thought I was the first guy to ever get his period. I don't think I could handle that, I would be scared if I had an urge to watch Oxygen and Lifetime, and laugh at female comedians who do nothing but complain about how much men suck. What where the drug makers thinking when they made this? Doctor, "Hey guys I have a great Idea to get people to lose weight and to cut back on STD's!" "How!" "We'll invent a pill that when you eat bad (and most will) will cause embarrassing side effects, they won't even be able to pass wind without soiling their selves, so therefore it will entice them to eat right!" "How will it solve STD's?" "Do you Seriously think anyone taking this stuff and getting orange anal leakage is going to get laid?" *round of applause* The only positive aspect of this whole ordeal is that I spend a lot less time on the toilet (that would have made my x g/f happy) . I use to spend like a half an hour in there, I would sit back read or play a gameboy it was my quiet time. But now thanks to greasy orange lubrication I launch my missiles faster than a Parkinson's suffering dictator with his fingers on the launch button. You can rest assure if WW3 ever happened we would be safe in the waters because I am pretty sure if I stuck my bum underwater I could shoot down anything with the velocity of my anal projectiles. Gives a whole new meaning of silent but deadly I tell you that. So to put everything in a simple aspect, spending 60 dollars to cause embarrassing side effects is not worth losing 5 extra pounds. Well I better stop now, I have to head to the store to buy a bag of depends... Oh and yes I am serious about my question and the above statements are facts!

  5. Resolved Question: Cheap insurance or payment options?
  6. 22 May 2008 at 6:17am
I need emergency dental care & i have no health nor dental insurance. I was refered to something called carecredit which once you are approved you can make a monthly payment plan for your dental work and then you dont have to pay a copayment.Does anyone know if there are any other services like this? Also i tried applying for emergency dental insurance online but you need a major credit card to pay the first months insurance before you can use it.Is there any dental insurance i can apply for online that i can be billed by mail for?

  7. Resolved Question: Babysitter trouble?
  8. 21 May 2008 at 11:40pm
My 16 yr old sister watches my children while I work. It is only a 16 hr a week job, nothing big. She feeds them supper mon-thurs, and then I get home right before bedtime. I pay her $50 a week for her services. She is driving me nuts. She doesn't feed them the food I tell her to, and she lets them have whatever snacks they want. My house is messy right now, we are getting ready to move, but when I get home, it is completely trashed. Nothing is picked up, there will be food on the floor, and somehow she manages dirtying every cup in my house in the 4 hours she is there. I have a new (better) sitter lined up for after we move, but how can I put up with this for the next month? I feel like screaming every time I walk in my door, but I have no other options for a sitter right now, so I have to be somewhat nice. We have already made computer and phone off limits (except for emergencies...) What else can I do? To clarify a little, I have 2 boys, ages 2 & 5. They are pretty well behaved, and yes, even she says that. She is not expected to cook, just to pop whatever I have already made into the microwave. She takes it upon herself to cook something else most days though. Also, yes she is only paid $3 an hour, but we are also giving her a car that we have when she gets her license. I do not think my terms are unreasonable, and I have tried talking to her about what I would like done. It just seems to go in one ear and out the other. I am just really frustrated right now, I'm not sure how I can bring this up to her yet again without her walking out. We don't know too many people in this town, so she really is the only option. I cannot quit my job either, as I already have set up to transfer to our new town... Anyone know of a tactful way to tell her that she is not doing a good job, without offending her too much?

  9. Resolved Question: UK youths among the worst in Europe?
  10. 21 May 2008 at 3:52pm
"The boys and girls who casually pick fights, have sex and keep the emergency services fully occupied are often fueled by cheap booze...They are more likely to try drugs or start smoking young. English girls are the most sexually active in Europe. More of them are having sex aged 15 or younger, and more than 15% fail to use contraception when they do - which means that Britain has high rates of both teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Small wonder, then, that a 2007 UNICEF study of child wellbeing in 21 industrialized countries placed Britain firmly at the bottom of the table." TIME, 'Britain's Mean Streets' by Cathernine Mayer The article above demonstrates the way in which so many British teenagers are taking up drugs, drink, violence and promiscuity on such an abominably large scale. Despite being a young teenager myself [I am sixteen years of age] I am absolutely sick of it. Is there some sort of sociological explanation as to why this is happenning?

  17. Voting Question: Can a developing country do this to their own people?
  18. 20 May 2008 at 12:18pm
A developing country may often be managed by military leaders. Anyway I wondered if this was what other countries are capable of. The government of Boyohboy decided one day to take over the country's telecommunication service and started a popular campaign to give each and every Boyohboy citizen a cellular phone to use in an emergency. Furthermore the government leader said for the next two years there will be no charge to the calling service, complements of the government. Without delay, the citizens of Boyohboy were elated to receive such great news that now they can keep in touch with relatives and friends as much as they want. In the meanwhile in the back room... The military leaders sought consultation from academics society such as the MIT Media labs research center for instance. The military leaders wanted to know how they can reach out to the people of their country and get their honest opinions on topics that impacted their lives. The military leaders had good intentions at the beginning and hence the academics society extended their intellectual services. Somewhere in the discussions the academic source pointed out that people are like animals that are social. People's behaviors parallels animals' social behaviors. To make a long story shorter, the military leaders picked up the phenomenon that people are influenced by certainother people whom they communicate often and frequently. The academic source also indicated that there are technology available today that will allow them to access social circle of influence. The idea that someone can influence another person intrigued the military leaders significantly. The military leaders' thoughts rambled on or stumbled on the possibility that they can make friends with each of their country's citizens with the technology that was shown to them. The sheer magnitude of the country's population was not a barrier to this technology. And so the two years have passed and now the military leaders wanted to test the investment that was made over the years. They collected gobs and gobs of phone records. Everyone in the country had made a phone call in the past two years. Every citizen was connected to someone in the country somehow. However the key was to identify the socially active individuals who had influential abilities. The academic source called these the social butterflies. If the military leaders had access to these social butterflies the search space for finding someone inthe population was reduced significantly. Each social butterflies had lists of people they can reach to influence or make friends with. Furthermore the social butterflies were connected to each other through people they knew separately. It turned out that the military leaders had people they knew that knew the social butterflies. Through this chains of social linkages every citizens of Boyohboy could in theory be friends with each other, IF the technology was used for the purpose of good. However the military leaders knew that those who had reins over the technology had the power to influence to a level never imagined before. This is what I mean by using social networking as a weapon. Maybe examples are in order to clarify the effectiveness of using this phenomenon called influence. Stock market speculation: not just any Joe off the street making a statement will make other people think otherwise one way or another. However lets say the presiding lead equities broker with extensive market insight, developed through years of trading on the floors of the stock exchange, makes a speculation that was artificially induced by his superior who signs his check every other week. The entity with access to someone who had knowledge in the area of stock market activities may gain access to the information/knowledge of what they can and can not do with influence. Apparently inducing false rumor in the market place, sometimes called speculation, can be attainable.

  19. Resolved Question: How can I plan for the future?
  20. 20 May 2008 at 12:17pm
I'm a single mom of three kids and we have seen very rough times the last three years. I left my exhusband because of domestic violence hoping to make a better life for us. Since leaving him I've struggled non stop to support my children. Even though we are no longer homeless and have a pretty affordable home to live in. There is no money for extras. None of my children recieve the court ordered childsupport and very often there is no money left over after each month to put aside for a rainy day. I would really like to save money for an emergency or the future. I just want a small nest egg in case things get worse. I Keep in mind we have few extras.....we don't eat out unless its a treat from a friend or get new clothes (this has happened once in 2 years). I buy second hand everything and frequent garage sales and thrift stores if I really need something. We don't have cable and I have the cheapest imternet connection and phone service I could find. Any ideas ? Also are there ways to cut costs doing laundry at home? The father works but doesn't pay the ordered support as he feels its unnessecary as I can get public assistance. I'm working with the OAG office now to force the support they ordered but it will be awhile. I just need ideas now to make the money I have streatch longer and put some aside if at all possible. I'm just worried about the future with the economy going downhill so quickly.

  22. 20 May 2008 at 8:31am
I currently have verizon and my bill is around 58 per month. I also receive a 15 percent discount. I use the phone for text messaging (how i communicate to most people) and for emergency use. I receive one to two calls on the phone a day and usually make about the same a day or less (about 2 outgoing calls per/day). My plan ends in august, and I was wondering if there is another carrier that would be cheaper (then around $58-60). unlimited text is a must. how about prepaid? *cell sorry for the spelling error

  23. Resolved Question: Do you believe this?
  24. 19 May 2008 at 7:40pm
The Secret behind the number 11 Pretty Chilling - read to the bottom. Try it out. If you are a sceptical person - still read on as it's actually very interesting!! This is actually really freaky!! (Mainly the end part, but read it all first) 1) New York City has 11 letters 2) Afghanistan has 11 letters. 3) Ramsin Yuseb has 11 letters . (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) 4) George W Bush has 11 letters. This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets interesting: 1) New York is the 11th state. 2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11. 3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11 4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers , was carrying 65 passengers. 6 + 5 = 11 5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 =11 6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. Sheer coincidence...? Read on and make up your own mind: 1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. 2 + 5 + 4 = 11 2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. 3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11. 4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers incident. Now this is where things get totally eerie: The most recognized symbol for the US , after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Koran, the Islamic holy book: 'For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace..' That verse is number 9.11 of the Koran. Unconvinced about all of this still ..? Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end: Open Microsoft Word and do the following: 1. Type in upper case Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first plane to hit one of the Twin Towers . 2. Highlight the Q33 NY. 3. Change the font size to 48. 4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS???????? What do you think now???? Send this to as many people as you know and in 11 minutes you will get a nice surprise, if you don't you will get the shock of your life in 11 min this like creeped me out. i got it in an email and its kinda weird how this all fits like a puzzle and how they all prove each other true, do u think this is just a really huge coincidence or that this really means something? the scariest part is the wingdings thing cuz it is pretty exact

I'm applying to volunteer at a local hospital this summer. On the application, there is one section that asks what kind of work I would prefer. What kind of work is involved in "Emergency Room" and "Outpatient Services"? I know that, being only a volunteer, it wouldn't be anything critically important to patient health. so what kinds of tasks would you be doing in those areas?

  33. Resolved Question: Cellphone while vacationing in Ireland (Republic)?
  34. 19 May 2008 at 1:31pm
Me and my family will be traveling to Republic of Ireland this next weekend. We will be there for 2 weeks and I was wondering about using a GSM AT&T Cellphone. What are the requirements doesn't it have to be like tri-band? I believe mine is, its the treo 650. I've heard about pay as you go cards but would AT&T service even work over there, or would the phone work more emergencies and so? Any opinions welcomed.

  35. Resolved Question: what do you think about this joke?
  36. 19 May 2008 at 1:16pm
A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn?t seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: ?My friend is dead! What can I do?? The operator, in a calm, soothing voice, says: ?Just take it easy. I can help. First, let?s make sure he?s dead.? There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy?s voice comes back on the line. He says: ?Okay, now what?? that's the joke.

  42. 19 May 2008 at 1:34am
Heres the deal: Born and raised in Los Angeles (18 years). Accepted a scholarship to University of Miami in 2006.Got in a fight while in miami last november and held without adjudication on a felony battery case.probation for 5 years with special conditions (250 hours of community service-unfinished)NO VIOLATIONS!! The semester is over,I have no home, and I'm planning on staying in Los Angeles through the fall semester.I requested a probation transfer to LA where I will be residing with my FATHER. My PO put in an emergency transfer request through interstate in Tallahassee. 24 hours later the transfer was REJECTED on the basis that there was insufficient reason for an emergency transfer. Another request to transfer was processed about 10 days ago by my PO's supervisor with slight modifications and included the facts that Im an unemployed, broke, and homeless student. Can the judge do anything? How long should I expect to wait? Anyway to expedite? Does anyone know the Governator? Thanks

  43. Resolved Question: Is my attorney overcharging for services rendered?
  44. 18 May 2008 at 4:56pm
I hired an attorney @ $150.00 per hr to get emergency custody of my grandchild. She knows I am on a very tight budget and I wanted this as clean, simple and fast as possible. In 2 days she charged $2185.00 and wants more. I am stunned. Her billing states that it took 1.75 hrs of gathering information and almost10 hrs to draft the documents. These are standard documents that I would think she is very familiar with. She does not have a secretary and I think she is charging me attorney fees for secretary work. What can I do about this? Any ideas please and thank you. Some of you seem to not be reading what I wrote and I have to say I KNOW attorneys are not cheap. I have a friend who has worked for and attorney for 13 yrs in a different state and she said that the amount of time the attorney is charging for drafting the standard forms is excessive. Thanks to those who did not just say "pay her". My grandchild's parents are both drug addicts and criminals I am just trying to save the future of an innocent child and don't need to be ripped off by a greedy attorney. No I am not stupid, I know it cost money, but I will not just say ok to a huge bill without questioning why. Again thank you to those who read what I asked and are wise enough to understand what I am saying. And just for a tidbit more info this has already been through children's services and hehad to spend a short time in a foster home. He has lived with me most of his life.

pos: - beautiful parts of a country - mountains, historical buildings, with beatiful arichitecture, one of the cities is filled with all hostirical beautiful architectural buildings and old beautiful market square - you've got good solit education in secondary school - with higher it varies but in general good but not as good as in United States or United Kingdom, or Germany - people are in general friendly, you can make few a lot long-term friendships Cons: - to go to elementary school your parent has to drive you, or you have to take bike or walk, even it is 2 or 3 miles away from you - it the weather is very difficult, you get no emergency broadcast systems or alerts, school is still in seesion and many roads stay covered with few inches of snow - the highway system is not well developed, the roads are curvy with holes - you've got access to most modern technology, but internet, telephone (landline and cell) services are very expensive - part of EU - food is delicious public education and healthcare free neutral (pros or cons): -all people are religious or "religious in some sense" -everybody has to go to church on sunday and take religion at public schools - corpus christi day is a national holiday and it is celebrated on streets (basically you have well dressed 80years old men with big crowds following them on streets, many people go with sad smile and it looks like a crowd of sheep, after marches you have left flowers on streets to be swept by few days -catholic church has a great share in political life - over %95 percent of population is homogenous and speak your language, has the same religion - it is very allied with the U.S - most electronics are affordable but still expensive especially the one with good brand like Microsoft or Apple - no iTunes or Xbox live is supported in your country and so ps3 network - very few of your friends have xbox 360 or ps3 - homosexuality is condemned and all of your friends are in closet, the only open relationships you know are straight few exceptions in biggest cities - some poeple are xenophobic, especially older - antisemitic or antiarabian - there are no many varieties of food - not to many restaurants especially in rural areas, not even in mid-large towns in provinces very distant from metropolies - most people do not eat out, many eat at home - the salaries are not too great comparing to western countries final question - guess what country I am talking about the last list before question is a list of cons. hope you enjoy my survey ;) please also state if you would like to live in the country I described, and why?

  50. 17 May 2008 at 6:34pm
...& could no longer proceed as a candidate, would Fred Thompson & Mitt Romney be called back into service for the GOP as potential candidates? I know there's Ron Paul but the media's "BOB"(Black Out Blitz) has reduced him to impotence. Who else could they field but Fred & Mitt? Stl-Luna-7, I do NOT wish senator McCain "poorly" & would neither wish that on senator Kennedy for that instance. I simply asked if senator McCain did suffer an UNFORTUNATE medical condition, who would be picked to replace him. As far as senator McCain's stance on issues I happen to disagree with many of them. As far as his PERSON & PERSONAL CONSTITUTION I absolutely admire the man, his resolve & courage, not to mention his exemplary military service to our country which was, in my opinion OUTSTANDING!!! playsoccer!, don't bet on it! Senator McCain may well be physically old indeed, but that "old man" is a tenacious fighter with a resolve second to none!!!

While crossing a minor B road I was hit by a car, the owner of the car never gave their details, and did not care for involvement of the emergency services. They are now trying to hold me liable under Section 154 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (this I find strange as I was not driving another motor vehicle i was a pedestrian) Just wondering if anyone knows where I stand on this, as i am a little bewildered.

FA Admits Starting Fire Onboard Compass Flight 19-Year-Old Was Angry With Route Assignment An in-flight fire onboard a Compass Airlines regional flight from Minneapolis to Regina, Saskatchewan earlier this month was apparently the result of a young flight attendant's temper tantrum. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports Eder Rojas, 19, admitted he deliberately started a fire in the rear lavatory of the Embraer 175 during the May 7 flight, because he was upset the airline made him work that route. The flames forced Flight 2040 to divert to Fargo, ND, where it made an uneventful emergency landing. None of the 72 passengers and four crewmembers onboard were injured, though they were questioned by FBI agents and police upon arrival. It was during those interrogations the picture started to come together. Rojas was initially credited with helping to put out the fire, along with another flight attendant and a passenger... but reports soon emerged the young FA had acted strangely when the alarms first sounded. Passenger Ryan Boughen said Rojas stood in the aisle at least 30 seconds after the alarms sounded, before he took action. "I yelled that I smelled smoke and eventually he did go back there to check it out," Boughen said. "He peeked into the bathroom and I saw this yellowish-greyish smoke pour out the top of the door and then he closed the door right away." According to a District Court complaint, Rojas stuffed an extra packet of paper towels in the lav's dispenser just before the flight left Minneapolis. Rojas later told authorities he reached into the lav and lit the towels on fire before starting beverage service. An agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed the fire was "intentionally set inside the napkin/paper towel compartment, with the most likely ignition point being an extra packet of paper towels in the compartment." If convicted, Rojas could be fined and sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. Needless to say, he's already been fired from Compass. FMI: www.compassairlines.com

  55. Resolved Question: How does one become certified as an EMT, but more specific...
  56. 17 May 2008 at 3:51pm
Long story short, used to be a cop for 5 years, got into some trouble, ended up with a domestic misdemeanor (simple assault) on my record from a different state. I used to be an EMT a long time ago, and I'm interested in becoming a paramedic now. Just about finished with my Masters Degree, but still want to find a job in the service field. However, due to my criminal issue on my record, I can no longer hold a license to have a firearm. This doesn't restrict me from being a firefighter or paramedic, so I'm looking to go that route. The main issue is, I can't pull up any info on schools that offer a medic program, or even an EMT program, but there are plenty of job sites stating they are hiring for certified medics and emt's. I've checked the NC office of emergency medical services and can't find anything. Can anyone offer any advice? I know that most fire departments also want you to already have your fire certs and medic certs upon applying so there has to be something? I guess my follow up question is...does anyone think that i'll be able to land a decent job with a misdemeanor on my record? I'm pretty sure a misdemeanor only shows up on your record in the state you got it in, unless its for a public safety job...such as why im worried...I'm interested in getting my medic or even my emt license again, but would like to get paid to work...would a misdemeanor hinder employment completely? My record is otherwise perfect, no troubles, never even one writeup as cop....nothing! perfect driving record, will have a masters degree in leadership soon, already got my bs, considering maybe another BS? not sure. Have to restart my whole life over basically. I know there are always better candidates for fire departments who have no criminal record, but im a prior emt, former great cop, with the one exception that i got into an argument on the homefront one time...am i all done, should i completely give up on public safety? any advice is appreciated...

  57. Voting Question: What damages to my 97 Cougar if towed incorrectly?
  58. 17 May 2008 at 10:09am
My radiator fan siezed causing my car to overheat. I called my emergency road service carrier and asked for a tow to the shop (approx 25 miles) where my new radiator had been recently installed. When the tow arrived, the guy didnt know which end to lift and asked if I had a book on the car. I gave it to him while he was on the phone asking someone for help. My car was towed, driving wheels off the ground, with a strap securing the steering wheel to my driver' side mirror. My car is now making a "loud grinding noise" each time I try to turn my steering wheel. The noise seems to be coming from the front, r/s wheel well. What kind of damage to my car could result from being towed incorrectly?

  59. Resolved Question: Best phone for pay as you go minutes?
  60. 16 May 2008 at 8:18pm
My mom is looking to get a pay as you go phone, and soon. She only wants it for calling out and getting calls, and it doesn't have to be fancy. She's not technical at all. What is the best phone for someone like her, and what is the best service? She'll only be using it to call in case of emergencies, and for someone to reach her where ever she may be, as I already stated. She probably won't use many minutes a month...but obviously wants the most "bang for her buck" so to speak. So please suggest simple phones and good value phone plans.

  63. Resolved Question: How do I spread the word about a memorial service?
  64. 15 May 2008 at 11:27am
My father died last Thursday. He was divorced (for 15 years, and hadn't spoken to his ex-wife in as long), and he was also at an emotional distance to any close relatives (brothers and etc.) . I, a 20-year-old college student, am his only child -- and therefore the only person willing to step up and take care of his final send-off. I just drained the entirety of my savings account to have him cremated (I only have $300 or so leftto my name, and no emergency savings) and, following what I think he would have wanted, will be scattering his ashes from a plane. The military offered me a headstone free of charge, as he was a veteran. My question is this: how, since I can't fund a proper funeral, do I go about holding at least a memorial service? Where is an appropriate (but within my budget) place to hold it? What is an considered a fair amount of advance time to let people know when such a service will be? And how on earth do I get the word out to family and friends?

Good Morning,Last night my cat died. I don't know how old she was, because we found her. About a year ago, she started developing symptoms that seen like arthritis, she could no longer jump up on the bed or chair. But she was still happy, eating and playing. Last night she let out this terrible cry, started stumbling like her back legs gave out, then it looked she had a seizure her whole body started shaking and her mouth sagged on 1 side then she could not move , as if she was paralyzed, she could not even lift her head, ,we made her comfortable waiting for a vet to open in our area, she was 3am , then suddenly she gasped twice for air and then died. Please help me to figure out what happened to my cat or could she have been saved if there was emergency services for animals open? Also my 2 children are devastated as well as myself and my husband should we get a kitten to help with the pain?

  68. 14 May 2008 at 10:22pm
I am really curious to know if this has happened to people. When my lab ended up with a blockage in his digestive tract, the vet said emergency surgery was a definite possibility. I cringed at the estimated number, especially knowing the sign "Full payment is expected at time services are rendered." However, my vet didn't send me out the door with my dreadfully ill dog. She told me if it came to surgery, we could work something out as far as payments go. I just can't imagine a vet turning away an animal in critical condition, but perhaps I'm wrong. Has this ever happened to anyone?

  70. 13 May 2008 at 7:55pm
I have read so many posts the last few days where owners have sick cats/kittens and they can't afford to get treatment for them. Rather than allow your pet to suffer, there are Organisations out there that may be able to help. THERE ARE QUITE A FEW ORGANIZATIONS HERE, SO BE SURE TO SCROLL THE BOTTOM. KEEP THIS INFO IN A SAFE PLACE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL PROVE TO BE HANDY. Here is a list of organizations who can help owners that cannot afford vet care. A couple are for rescue organizations and homeless pets. Please forward this list to anyone you think it might help. American Animal Hospital Association http://www.aahahelpingpets.org/home/ "The heartbreak happens all too often ? a pet owner is unable to afford treatment and their sick or injured companion animal pays the price. "If the owner is elderly, disabled or on a fixed income, the cost of care may be too much of a stretch for their pocketbook. "Perhaps they have been victimized by crime, property loss or a job layoff and are experiencing a temporary financial hardship making it too difficult to afford pet care. "And some animals, brought to clinics by Good Samaritans, don't have an owner to pay for treatment. "Whatever the situation, the fact remains the same: When sick or injured animals are unable to receive veterinary care, they suffer. "Through the AAHA Helping Pets Fund, veterinary care is possible for sick or injured pets even if they have been abandoned or if their owner is experiencing financial hardship." ------------------------- Angels 4 Animals http://www.Angels4Animals.org "Angels4Animals, a non-profit organization and a program of Inner Voice Community Services, has a mission to serve as the guardian angel of animals whose caretakers find themselves in difficult financial situations. "At Angels4Animals we believe that animal owners should not have to say goodbye to the animals that they love. "Our work is accomplished in conjunction with veterinary clinics across the country, eager to assist as many animals, and their owners, as possible. "Our services range from financial aid to complete treatment to those pets and pet owners in need." ------------------------ Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance (FVEAP) http://www.fveap.org/sys-tmpl/door/ "The NEED & The HELP: Seniors, People with disabilities, People who have lost their job, Good Samaritans who rescue a cat or kitten - any of these folks may need financial assistance to save a beloved companion." "The Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance Program is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization that provides financial assistance to cat and kitten guardians who are unable to afford veterinary services to save their companions when life-threatening illness or injury strikes." ---------------------- Help-A-Pet http://www.help-a-pet.org/home.html "Our efforts focus on serving the elderly, the disabled, and the working poor. For lonely seniors, physically/mentally challenged individuals and children of working parents, pets represent much more than a diversion." ------------------------- IMOM http://www.imom.org "Mission Statement: "Helping people help pets. To better the lives of sick, injured and abused companion animals. We are dedicated to insure that no companion animal has to be euthanized simply because their caretaker is financially challenged." ----------------------- The Pet Fund http://thepetfund.com/ "The Pet Fund is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit association that provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals who need urgent veterinary care. "Often animals are put down or suffer needlessly because their owners cannot afford expensive surgery or emergency vet visits. "Companion animal owners must often make the difficult decision to put an animal down or neglect urgent medical needs because of the costs involved. "The purpose of the Pet Fund is to work towards a future where decisions about companion animal medical care need never be made on the basis of cost." ------------------------- United Animal Nations http://www.uan.org/lifeline/index.html "The mission of LifeLine is to help homeless or recently rescued animals suffering from life-threatening conditions that require specific and immediate emergency veterinary care. "We strive to serve Good Samaritans and rescue groups who take in sick or injured animals. In certain cases, LifeLine can also assist senior citizens and low-income families pay for immediate emergency veterinary care." -------------------- UK Assistance with Veterinary Bills http://www.petloversonline.co.uk/financial.htm "Most of us can cope with the financial commitment involved in the day to day care of our pets. However, how many of us come out in a cold sweat when our pet is ill or injured and we know we have to take it to the vet? "Most of us are fortunate enough to be able to afford it but, some of us who love our animals dearly cannot. "Unfortunately we do not have a PDSA or a RSPCA Centre within our area, but there are a few charities who may be able to help." Thanks rrm, I'll add that to the lists. If anyone can think of any others, can they please post on the thread and they can also be added. I'm also going to try and form a lists for clinics that offer free spaying/neutering so if anyone can email some links, I'll put them all together and post them. This is Japanese news report that the anouncer read aloud. Please correct the sentences along with your grammer knowledge. This is very long, so I hope someone to share the work. There have been many cases in which hospitals refused admission to emergency patients being transported by ambulance. NHK has compiled a survey conducted by the Internal Affairs ministry and then learned that there were at least three hundred cases last year in which patient was denied treatment by 10 or more hospitals. The survey shows the lack of prepairedness in emergency medical services. This is Ms. Eriko Arai who lives in Togane city, Chiba Prefecture. Last August her husband Takashi who was 56 years old at that time suffered a brain hemorrhage and lost conciousness. Ms. Arai called an ambulance but hospitals denied admittance one after another.

  83. Resolved Question: Which type of graph should I use for this...?
  84. 12 May 2008 at 12:48pm
You will find a set of data below in a table, it represents data about the costs per acre in fighting emergency forest fires over the past 20 years (not intentional or managed forest fires which were begun in 1995). These figures only include fire fighting in the National Forest System (NFS), which is managed by the United States Forest Service, a division of the United States Department of Agriculture. (Dollar amounts are adjusted to the 1999 dollar value.) You are going to decide which type of graph to use, from the list of four. You want the graph which best shows the answers to the question, Is there a relationship between the cost of fighting emergency fires and the year in which the fires occurred? This might have been a question asked by the Forest Service as they budget money for the next year. The graph you are to make must be a good one for showing if there is a relationship and if so, what it is, for the question above. The Data Table Year Cost per acre burned (dollars) 1980 361 1981 588 1982 604 1983 700 1984 548 1985 336 1986 413 1987 288 1988 388 1989 741 1990 545 1991 819 1992 488 1993 623 1994 576 1995 933 1996 376 1997 640 1998 717 1999 977 Which Graph to Use Now decide which type of graph would be best to show the relationship between the cost of fighting emergency fires and the year in which the fires occurred. The four types of graphs, you should recall, are bar graph, pie chart, line graph and scatter plot. You decide - remember what each of the four types of graphs are best at showing: Bar graph - compares items and relationships - a groups of things you want to compare Pie chart - compare components of a whole set - a few parts to be compared Line graph - time series and frequency distribution - one variable increases regularly as the other is compared Scatter plot - compares two variables to see if they are related - sometimes they are and sometimes they are not Which do you think will be best to use for the cost of fighting fires?

  89. Resolved Question: What do leukocytes and rbcs in urine indicate?
  90. 11 May 2008 at 10:13am
I went to the dr. on Thursday and the Dr.'s office called on Friday while I was out and left a message for me to get back to them because there were [quote] "trace leukocyte readings, which is abnormal, and a higher end level of RBCS (55). Please call us back to schedule a follow-up appointment" Their office was closed by the time I got home, and the ansering service said the dr. is only paged on weekends in emergencies, not for clarification on test results (which makes sense). I have been nervous ever since though, wondering what it could mean. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  91. Resolved Question: How does this make YOU feel>?
  92. 10 May 2008 at 1:43pm
    1) New York City has 11 letters 2) Afghanistan has 11 letters. 3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters. 4) George W Bush has 11 letters. 5) The two twin towers make an "11" This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting: 1) New York is the 11th state. 2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11. 3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11 4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers. 6+5 = 11 5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 = 11 6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11. Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind: 1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. >2 + 5 + 4 = 11. 2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11. 3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11. 4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers incident. Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind: Now this is where things get totally eerie: The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic holy book: "For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace." That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran. Still uncovinced about all of this..?! Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end: Open Microsoft Word and do the followingTRY THIS FOR REAL) 1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first plane to hit one of the Twin Towers. 2. Highlight the Q33 NY. 3. Change the font size to 48. 4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS 1 scary huh??

  93. Resolved Question: Attacking Emergency Services....This is a MAJOR problem in...
  94. 10 May 2008 at 12:16pm
I cannot and will never understand why people would attack people who are obviously trying so hard to help others. Why would anyone attack someone trying to help others? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/7393644.stm Jomamo - that is awful. Thank you for sharing that story. Would you mind me asking which country that was in?

  95. Voting Question: Laws On Car Lighting?
  96. 9 May 2008 at 5:22pm
Hi i was planning on fitting under car cold cathodes to shine down onto the road. Somebody said the whole concept was illegal whereas someone else said it depended on the colour (no red facing forward, no blue due to emergency services colours :S) So where does the law stand with under floor lighting? Thanks! Mike

  97. Resolved Question: Docs list who would be allowed to die in a catastrophe you...

Docs list who would be allowed to die in a catastrophe CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- Doctors know some patients needing lifesaving care won't get it in a flu pandemic or other disaster. The gut-wrenching dilemma will be deciding whom to let die. Now, an influential group of physicians has drafted a grimly specific list of recommendations for which patients wouldn't be treated. They include the very elderly, seriously hurt trauma victims, severely burned patients and those with severe dementia. The suggested list was compiled by a task force whose members come from prestigious universities, medical groups, the military and government agencies. They include the Department of Homeland Security, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services. The proposed guidelines are designed to be a blueprint for hospitals "so that everybody will be thinking in the same way" when pandemic flu or another widespread health care disaster hits, said Dr. Asha Devereaux. She is a critical care specialist in San Diego, California, and lead writer of the task force report. The idea is to try to make sure that scarce resources -- including ventilators, medicine and doctors and nurses -- are used in a uniform, objective way, task force members said. Their recommendations appear in a report appearing Monday in the May edition of Chest, the medical journal of the American College of Chest Physicians. "If a mass casualty critical care event were to occur tomorrow, many people with clinical conditions that are survivable under usual health care system conditions may have to forgo life-sustaining interventions owing to deficiencies in supply or staffing," the report states. To prepare, hospitals should designate a triage team with the Godlike task of deciding who will and who won't get lifesaving care, the task force wrote. Those out of luck are the people at high risk of death and a slim chance of long-term survival. But the recommendations get much more specific, and include: ? People older than 85. ? Those with severe trauma, which could include critical injuries from car crashes and shootings. ? Severely burned patients older than 60. ? Those with severe mental impairment, which could include advanced Alzheimer's disease. ? Those with a severe chronic disease, such as advanced heart failure, lung disease or poorly controlled diabetes. Dr. Kevin Yeskey, director of the preparedness and emergency operations office at the Department of Health and Human Services, was on the task force. He said the report would be among many the agency reviews as part of preparedness efforts. Public health law expert Lawrence Gostin of Georgetown University called the report an important initiative but also "a political minefield and a legal minefield." The recommendations would probably violate federal laws against age discrimination and disability discrimination, said Gostin, who was not on the task force. If followed to a tee, such rules could exclude care for the poorest, most disadvantaged citizens who suffer disproportionately from chronic disease and disability, he said. While health care rationing will be necessary in a mass disaster, "there are some real ethical concerns here." James Bentley, a senior vice president at American Hospital Association, said the report will give guidance to hospitals in shaping their own preparedness plans even if they don't follow all the suggestions. He said the proposals resemble a battlefield approach in which limited health care resources are reserved for those most likely to survive. Bentley said it's not the first time this type of approach has been recommended for a catastrophic pandemic, but that "this is the most detailed one I have seen from a professional group." While the notion of rationing health care is unpleasant, the report could help the public understand that it will be necessary, Bentley said. Devereaux said compiling the list "was emotionally difficult for everyone." That's partly because members believe it's just a matter of time before such a health care disaster hits, she said. "You never know," Devereaux said. "SARS took a lot of folks by surprise. We didn't even know it existed."
