  13. Resolved Question: How can I stop squirrels from digging in my flower pots?
  14. 23 May 2008 at 3:39pm
I have a large deck on my 3rd floor apartment (accessible by stairs and a large tree that hangs over from the neighbors yard) and I have a problem with squirrels digging up the roots of my herbs, flowers and vegetable plants. I have tried sprinkling the soil with chili peppers and flakes but that does not deter them. We have a dog and a cat (indoor) who travel on the deck frequently so nothing toxic to them or to humans as I eat the herbs and veggies that I am able to grow! Thanks! Can I use the chili flake/soap mixture that was suggested on herbs and veggies I plan to eat? Will it alter the taste? Thanks for all the great suggestions!

  27. Resolved Question: How do you feel about the name Zoe?
  28. 23 May 2008 at 1:11pm
Such an important name originating in a Brazilian tribe of people that could become extinct! In the state of Para, Northern Brazil, in one of the last still largely unexplored rainforests in the world, a new tribe, the Zoe, was recently contacted. They live between the Amazon River and the country of Surinam. The Zoe are part of the tupi linguistic group. Little is known about them. They are semi-nomadic hunters and gatherers. Their favorite prey is monkey, which is plentiful in the region. The Zoe's hunting grounds cover an area of over one million acres. In such immensity, they don't have a notion of territory. The Zoe say that land belongs to no one. Their sense of property applies only to their hunting trails. When they kill a monkey with young babies, they bring them back to the village, where they are treated like family pets; they are even given their own hammocks and they never get eaten. All Zoe wear the poturu, a wooden plug piercing the bottom lip. "They don't know where this custom comes from. It has always been this way, the poturu distinguishes us from all other tribes." From the age of six, both boys and girls wear the poturu. Small at first, it reaches up to seven inches at adult age. The Zoe have large plantations near the villages where they cultivate manioc, bananas, sweet potatoes and urucum. The seeds of this prickly fruit are crushed to produce a red dye, highly prized by the Zoe, who cover their bodies with it. It is also used to dye wild cotton before spinning. Fire is never put out in a Zoe village and it seems that it has been passed on from generation to generation since the dawn of mankind. The women are familiar with abortive herbs and they regulate their pregnancies, usually having a baby every three years. Newborns with birth defects are buried before their first cry because they could bring bad luck and endanger the survival of the group. Children live enchanted lives in this Garden of Eden. Parents avoid any patronizing in order for children to learn fast enough to fend for themselves. They never get punished, except of very rare occasions, when they get scratched with a fish bone to rid them of their bad blood. The Zoe are unaware of their land rights and human rights. They don't even know that they are Brazilians. Contacts with our society are always harmful to Native Americans. Each object introduced to them is another nail in their coffin. It triggers new needs and selfish behavior. They soon contract new diseases and develop greed for the timber or gold on their land. Protecting them is the responsibility of the Brazilian government and of each one of us. Otherwise the Zoe will disappear, like hundreds of other native tribes since Christopher Columbus landed in the Americas. I really love the ethnic sound to it! Zo EE, that is the reason for the two dots to show pronunciation. I like the fact it is the original name of these ancient people! interesting to learn the origins of a name such as this! Zoe meaning LIFE, like LIFE TRIBE! zoe, did you know you were named after this ancient tribe? The government is trying to prevent intervention from the outside world so that they don't get disease! We can learn from these people! blonde dude, did you know that is how their name is spelled in other articles about this tribe? with the dots above the e! Yes, they are the life tribe!

  29. Resolved Question: Another for a Giggle and Comment?
  30. 23 May 2008 at 12:49pm

I felt so embarrassed And she spoke again "I don't mean to look, so you should put your pee-nis in"

I would like to know which herbs you can buy easily in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Calcutta... or some other places ? and, please: is it easy to get fresh bunches of such herbs in the green market, or should you grow them in your own kitchen garden ? In that case - if you should grow them - is it easy to obtain seeds ? I know there is coriander greens (dhania) curry leaves (kadi patta) fenugreek leaves (methi) dill (sowa) bay (tej patta) mint (pudina) basil (tulsi) but can you find also other herbs like chives (chhoti pyaz) thyme (banajwain) parsley (ajmood) rosemary (rusmari) and any others you might think of ?? thank you so much in advance, for your consideration xxx

Ok, so I am a few weeks along, just found out. I would like to start taking some herbs to support my supply so I may continue to nurse my son through the pregnancy. I know about red raspberry leaf and alfalfa (Thank you Mystic), but I have a few questions. Would it be more effective if I took them in tea form or in capsules? I also found a loose leaf blend that has the alfalfa and red rasperry leaf in it, but it also has peppermint and nettle leaf. Are those Ok to take while breastfeeding, or should I stick with just the red rasperry and alfalfa? http://www.bulkherbstore.com/MRRB

  86. 21 May 2008 at 10:19pm
a while back i started drinking hot tea again and when searching through the cookie jar full of random tea i found this one tea that i really liked. there were only a few bags left and since i liked it so much, i drank them all. i cannot remember what the name was, at ALL i only remember that the tea itself was dark purple and the name of the flavor started with a P it was not pomegranate or peach or anything like that, i think it was sort of obscure because i remember looking at the word and not even saying it in my head because i had never seen it before, it was a longer word. any ideas for purple herb or fruit that is sort of unknown to the general public and would make sense here?
