Breathing of oxygen from a tank which is sometimes very helpful for cluster headaches. Administration of any gas, for medical purposes, that contains more than 21% oxygen. Oxygen therapies alter the body's chemistry to help overcome disease, promote repair, and improve overall function. These therapies have been found to be effective in treating a wide variety of conditions, including infections (viral, fungal, parasitic, bacterial), circulatory problems, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, allergies, cancer, and multiple sclerosis.
I'm sure it varies but here are some links below that give prices. Looks like $100+ and up for a daily treatment. Or you could buy a unit for about $14k.
This sounds like a Cpap mask that one has to wear while sleeping so they won't have low sats and quit breathing. Most sleep apnea persons dont' enter REM sleep either. I would suggest that you talk to the person probably a pulmonary doc about this. You may need some sedative med to take to get you through this. Are you claustophobic? I would contact the doctor.
I've been on a Hydrogen Peroxide routine for years now and have never been sick. I take 10 drops of 35 percent Food Grade hydrogen peroxide in my water two times a day and I use a 1.5% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide solution in a nasal spray pump a few times a day too. I used to have bad allergies. I haven't had allergies in years. Anytime I even start feeling a little sick, I take a few sprays, and bye bye illness. I have read alot about cancer and AIDS patients and Oxygen and Hydrogen Peroxide treatments. The difference is one is an IV drip with Ozone for Oxygen Therapy (O3) and the other is an IV drip with Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2). The first has an extra oxygen molecule and, therefore, is more than likely more effective. In either case, they are both good in my opinion. This is what Magic Johnson apparently went through to get rid of his AIDS. It's funny (not really) that after he got well, the FDA shut down the clinic. Anyway, if I ever had cancer, I WOULD DEFINITELY pursue Oxygen and Hydrogen Peroxide therapies NO MATTER WHAT THE CONVENTIONAL MEDICAL COMMUNITY SAYS. I AM POSTIVELY CONVINCED THAT THE CONVENTIONAL MEDICAL COMMUNITY PURPOSELY AVOIDS THE SUBJECT OF GOOD OLE SIMPLE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PATENT IT AND IT'S SO INEXPENSIVE TO PRODUCE. OF COURSE, THE FDA IS COMPLICIT IN THIS SILENCE. The conventional medical community is quick to say that there is no evidence that Hydrogen Peroxide can help people with various ailments. And then they tell spooky, scary stories about how people have died from hydrogen peroxide or gotten ill--then you find out they drank it in rocket fuel concentration or something. They are ridiculous. Anyway, yeah, okay, that's why every MOTHER AND GRANDMOM in the world has a little brown bottle in her house. Ever had a cut? Did it help? Ever had a toothache? Did it get rid of your toothache? Ever had wax build up in your ears? Did it bubble out the wax in a few minutes. YES, YES, YES, YES. Why?--because Hydrogen Peroxide kicks the sh1t out of bacteria. Best of luck!!!
It's actually not an alternative medicine. Hyperbaric therapy is simply increasing the oxygen available to the body under a certain amount of pressure. I've heard it as effective for wound care and other ailments. It's also used for treating bends, when a diver returns to the surface too quickly. There was a recent study of this theapy for children with CP, and the results were mixed, and some acrimony seems to exist between reviewers and researchers. It's worth at least spending some time looking into.
Hello... I happen to be an Respiratory Therapist... yeah it works awesome... Can't think of the name of it... but I have seen them before... I think they are known as Oxygen concentrators... all they do is take out the nitrogen... from room air. They work great... Hope this helps....
A HYPERBARIC OXYGEN therapy (HBOT) session can cost from $100 to $200 in private clinics, to over $1,000 in some hospitals. What you need it for? Medicare may cover or reimburse the cost if the diagnosis for application of HBOT is one of those approved by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS).
Quite effective i would say. Questionable is whether to put an elderly patient through the ordeal of going hyperbaric though. TITLE: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy in diabetic foot. Author: Doctor N ; Pandya S ; Supe A Abstract: To study the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in chronic diabetic foot lesions, a prospective controlled study was undertaken. Thirty diabetics with chronic foot lesions were randomised to study group (conventional management and 4 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy) and control group (conventional management). The patients were assessed for average hospital stay, control of infection and wound healing. The control of infection spread was quicker. Positive cultures decreased from initial 19 to 3 in study group as against from 16 to 12 in the control group. (p 0.05). This difference was most pronounced for Escherichia coli. Also, the need for major amputation was significantly less in the study group (n = 2) as against the control group (n = 7) (p 0.05). The average hospital stay was not affected. We conclude that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be safely used and is beneficial as an adjuvant therapy in chronic diabetic foot lesions. difference between hypoxia and hypoxemia. Hypoxia is low oxygen levels available to the tissues, or the tissues are unable to use or receive the 02 that is available, as in sepsis, or pulmonary embolus. Hypoxemia is low 02 concentrations in the arterial blood. oxygen therapy could remedy hypoxemia by increasing the amount of 02 in the blood, but not fix hypoxia if the problem is using the oxygen, no matter how much is available..hope this helps....
FYI......never let a chiro adjust your neck. Ever. there is no such thing as a chiropractic neurologist How do you know your O2 level was 3x lower than normal and what does that even mean? Sorry, but that is a nonsense statement. Do you mean your oxygen saturation as measured by a pulse oximeter, or your partial pressure of O2 as measured by arterial blood gases? Those are the two most common and reliable ways of measuring oxygen levels...but 3x lower than normal still makes no sense.
No smoking. No candles. No open flames. Also, you must avoid any petroleum based products on the person using the oxygen, such as Vaseline for the lips, or any lotions that contain petroleum. This includes having that lotion on your hands as well.
it depends on where you are and if they were trained to do so. when i had my first responder license, i was able to administer o2 when needed.. if you are trained to do it, then yes, but if your class did not train you, then no, o2 is considered a drug... crazy huh?? i have had a cylinder of it in my car since i got my first responder, but if i was on scene and directed someone without training to use it, then it would be against the law... it is illegal to possess unless it is prescribed to you or you are authorized to have it...
It depends on the temperature of the air carrying the water vapour. The hotter the air the more water vapour it can carry. Patients are delivered at either one of two temperatures - those who are intubated with the tube sitting down past their vocal cords have warmer levels of humidified air delivered to them as their usual warming mechanisms are bypasses (naspharynx). Those who are having oxygen delivered via CPAP or mask it is at a lower temperature as the patient is able to warm and humidify the air via their nasopharnxy themselves. Optimal humidity is 44mg h20 per litre at 37 degrees centigrade. So it would depend on how many litres of flow was being given.
I'm sorry to hear about you friend. High-pressure (hyperbaric) oxygen is used to treat deep sea divers suffering from decompression sickness and smoke inhalation, and to help treat several other conditions. It has not been shown to have any value against cancer. The source below says that hyperbaric oxygen can be a helpful adjunct to other treatment for osteomyelitis. I don't know how many hyperbaric chambers there are in Australia, nor how much it would cost, but it would certainly be worth looking into. Good luck, and I hope you get better soon.
Excessive or prolonged use of O2 can adversely affect the optic nerve in infants, non-humidified O2 can dry nasal membranes causing irritation and opening the door for infection and flow rates higher than needed or prescribed can lead to CO2 build up. Generally speaking, there are no lasting adverse effects. Evidently, the guy above me didn't understand your question...at all.
Short answer would be yes, however I don't think it's that great an idea. I downloaded this book online a few days ago and read it (http://www.amazon.com/Hydrogen-Peroxide-William-Campbell-Douglass/dp/1885236077) But basically, in one section it was explained how oxygenating the blood could help fix diabetes, along with boosting the bodies ability to heal itself. The author then made the claim that the hyperbaric oxygen chamber approach is preferred for treatment since it costs 5000 times as much as getting peroxide put into the bloodstream, but is not actually better (and possibly worse, although it does work). If you want the proper/full version of the explanation I'd be happy to send you the book :P
Oxygen therapy is normally done with oxygen in high pressure cylinders, liquid oxygen systems, or oxygen concentrators. Because oxygen is classed as a drug, you would require an order from a doctor with testing that proves your need for supplemental oxygen therapy. If you feel that you could benefit from a home oxygen system, please talk to your doctor about that. There are risks and precautions associated to oxygen therapy that need to be addressed by health care professionals before an oxygen therapy program can be started.
