    He was about the size of a dime, pitch black with a thick red stripe down his "butt". He looked glossy, not hairy. He crawled out of my mom's TV that I was sitting next to and I killed it without thinking about taking a picture. Any ideas? I'm in middle Georgia (USA)... holy cow, first a 4 1/2 foot long black rat snake in my back yard and now a weird spider crawling out of the TV..what's next today??     like one time i told him he treats his daughter like she is an adult & it's not right & he shouldnt do that she's only 6 yrs old & i noticed that one day his friend was telling her that she is too grown & laughing ... our dog bit my 7yr old son & since then i dont like the dog & his friend knows it, so now the he pays extra attention to the dog & comes to our house & feed him as if we are not doing the same. the guy is really annoying i used to think he was cool but now i see he is going to side w/ my fiance on all cost & really dont care about "us" as a whole. He comes over our house daily & cooks and lounge, i used to allow him to do this before as i didnt know he really didnt care about my well being, but now that i know he doesnt give a rats a** i would really love to let him know how i feel, but i know thats my fiance's best friend so i dont want kick off a huge fight between the three of us cause i feel like my fiance will side w/ him & ill look stupid & loose in the end...

    I have a large Palm in front of my house and a couple weeks ago my boyfriend pointed out that there were rats running up and down the tree. I was a bit shocked because I thought the screeching noise coming from it were Owls. The tree is about 10 yards from my house so I think it would be hard for them to jump from the Palm onto my roof....well when I came home from work this morning I noticed one sitting on my front stoop as if he owned the place. Do you think they are planning to move in or getting ready for attack? Should I be planning a preemptive strike? Or maybe he and his friends just wanted to see the look on my face....

    i find it frustrating sometimes when i try to stroke one of my male rats or if i just lay my hand in the cage (and my hands are clean) he will come over and bite my fingers. its not a hard bite, but i can feel his teeth and it scared me slighty. this rat is the nervous one. he hasnt been out of his cage since i got them. he is getting slightly better, as whenever i open the top of the cage he will jump onto my chest and sit on my shoulder. my other rat is fine and comes out all the time. i had him out the second day i got them

    Hi my rat is really sick she has the red eye goo, on her eyes and nose. She is hardly eating anything, and drinks little, she can hardly walk, and she is only staying in one place, i don't think she's gone to the bathroom or anything. Her activity has dropped a lot. Is there anything i can do to help her get any better? I would take her to the vet but i can't afford it. Please help!

    ive read somewhere tha rats usually grind their teeth to keep them short. but when i start talking to one of my rats he starts doing this. is he bruxing because he is happy to see me. he doesnt do it any other time apart from when i talk to him if i re arrange their hammocks and toys in their cage, will this make them happy. although they dont really play with their toys. theyve got 3 bird toys. ive seen him doing that eye boggling thing a few times. if i want to talk to my rats then i will. i talk to my dogs. at least when you talk to a pet they dont answer back No hes called Rafiki

    One of my female pet rats has her fur puffed out. I first noticed it this morning. She has also been making a squeaky sound. She doesn't have any kind of discharge. I have been trust training these girls and neither of them have even tried to bite me for over a week. This one did give me a hard nip when I tried to pick her up to look her over. Is she sick? Should I take her to the vet (over an hour away) or just watch her for awhile? Should I separate her from the other rat?

    it all started when my friend asked for a pencil and i said i had one (and im a female so I DONT) then the girl said ew she has a pencil so i was like no dont touch me stop touchin me and she got mad or whatever then went to talk to her friend (neither one of her friends like me) so she ended talkin bout me sayin im ugly or what not and i dont think im ugly and neither do boys but thats her opinion so i threw in my opinion and said u look like a rat......should i fight her for talkin bout me or tell her its a dumb reason..... im only 12

    The only thing I've found recently that's decent enough is one of those pulsating plug in devices. I have a lot of sensitive animals in my home that can't be near chemicals and sticky traps, and I'm especially worried about my rats and hamster. When I use sprays, my dog tends to lick it off the floor, landing her a ticket to the veterinarian. Any pellets and sticky traps, my cats tend to mess with, ending them with a ticket to the vet as well. Any ideas? I especially have spiders and mystery pop-up bugs.

    Ok,so my mum bought me a rat a year and half ago. and shes allways been really active,she loves coming out of her cage and running around greeting people and she loves her food. over the year and half she has become over weight,really overweight, so i have decided depriving her of her chrisps and meat and fatty food and instead giving her a small amount of fruite and veg so she dont get dioreer and giving her nuts and seeds. i noticed 2 days ago she had not touched her mix of veg and seeds i thought maybe she wasnt used to it but if she got hungry she would eat it. last night i opened the cage and she wouldnt come near me,wen she eventually came out of her box she staggered to the water n staggered back to her box without even drinking any.this made me concerned . this morning i checked on her and she was the same but her bedding was covered in blood,i took her from her house n cleaned her cage n put new bedding in n i checked her,her tail had been bleeding,but now noticed she is wetting her self and i dont know what to do or what to attempt to feed her. and i need to take her to the vets really but i havent got the money to right now :(

    He calls the police on all of us...ie we let our dog out to go to the bathroom and he calls the police. My neighbor is selling is a quad and he called the police. Do not get him. Anyway I want to put a sign ON MY PROPERTY saying that we have a rat that lives on his street and put his name on it. Is it legal to do that in NY? Okay I am being like a child but this is well derserved. Thanks for the input.

    I'm not convinced this is completely ok as i'm sure fruit takes some time to rot down completely. And surely this will change the makeup of the soil. Or perhaps it will attract rats... If possible can you provide references to composting times for apple cores and banana skin. Opinions are welcome too thanks the potassium levels comment was very interesting... I'm more concerned about the ecological damage.. as i would like to pass this info on to school kids.. ok maybe i should have been more clear. I DON'T THROW FRUIT FROM CARS OR PUT FRUIT CORES ETC ANYWHERE ELSE EXCEPT MY COMPOST. I simply wanted a response to some children's questions during a lesson. Children are more intelligent than some give them credit for and I will not simply tell them not to. I want to give them reasons and information. References would be appreciated.

    ok, just been sat in my garden enjoying my day off when i saw a huge rat come out from under the shed. i almost died! and screamed like a bloody idiot. here's the problem tho, and i will sound like a total moron, but i dont want to buy a rat trap, because i would have to empty it... and i dont want to even touch it... so here's the question, can you buy rat poison that doesnt harm other animals? i have a golden retriever and i obviously dont want anything to happen to him. i'm even thinking about going and getting a cat... anyone have any ideas what i can use to get rid of them???

    She's a yr and a half rat terrier/min pin mix. She only seems hungry once a day...if that! I tried SD mixed w/ Nutro Natural packets of Chicken stew and lamb and rice stew....no shot. I have tried dry with some wet on it...no shot. And then there are some days when she IS hungry, and then there are days when she doesn't even want a treat. She also throws up this yellow foam sometimes too. Not every day though. Is she just prone to stomach bugs? Help.

    i've been wanting to quit my job for quite some time, n when i called out of work bc i was ill (which i have been for almost a month now, n they wont give me the time to go to the doctor) i was harassed by my "office manager" all day with calls n text messages. she said she needed to "warn" me bc my boss was pissed bc not much had gotten done in the past two days (which btw were half days, n i was extremely sick). my office manager comes in on those half days for about 3 hours n doesn't do anything work-related, rather is on her cell phone n the internet doing real-estate. n i just found out that even though i'm the person at my job who works more hours then anyone else, she's been adding an extra 15-20 hours on her paycheck everytime she calls in payroll. Not to mention trash talking me n our employees to other people. I was told a few weeks ago to start applying everywhere bc she has it out for me. so i'm quitting today. should i tell my big boss all that she's been doing? she is just full of drama and it makes our office a hard working evironment. she told the entire office that our assistant was going thru foreclosure and that she had put in her two weeks notice. NOT TRUE AT ALL!!!

    I'm curious about the bar spacing on three of them in particular. The ferret cage "New Englander." The Rat Skyscraper. The Ruud cage. I'll have the money in a month or two and wanted to get an idea about them. I have a small hairless that it's about 20 weeks or so. Still fits in the palm of my hand. Would she be able to get out? Oh. I have three rats. I'm investing in a larger cage to take on rescues soon. :] But most rescues here are babies. Thanks.

    I used to be a soccer player and gym rat. I was in awesome shape and felt great. Now I'm a workaholic, skinnier, with less muscle and I constantly smell like smoke. As a result, my asthma acts up occasionally and my blood pressure (elevated due to unrelated surgery) is high. I need people who used to smoke to tell me how much better they felt afterwards. Exercise nuts are encouraged. Thanks

    i'm pretty sure that one of my 2 new rats is ill, i have no idea what he has and no money to check it out at a vet. recently he started biting me without there being any reason, i have had my 2 makes for 5 days and only started having problems yesterday, my biggest fear is getting bit by animals so it is making it hard for me to bond with them. what can anyone suggest to help me out with this problem?

    i dont remember much about it, i played it constantly when i was like 5 or 6, but the main character was a mouse/rat sort of thing dressed kinda like a knight wearing armor and he had a sword and in one part he had to climb towers and castles to rescue the princess rat/mouse before it collapsed. and i remember one part where he had to fight this metal dragon and if he won, during his little victory thing at the end of the level where it tells you what your score is, he would be riding the dragon? im sorry i dont remember much else about it. but i was in love with this game and would like to play it again for old times sake but i just can think of the name of it. any help appreciated.

    I got a female rat from the pet store exactly a week ago, and I am wondering if she is pregnant. She was in a cage with many other rats, all of whom were boys. They all looked alike, so I assume that they were siblings. She is about seven weeks old now, but was six when I bought her. I haven't noticed any signifigant weight gain, other than the normal growing, but I have not weighed her. She has become a little less friendly, but not by much. Is it likely that she is pregnant?

    Well I just got a new pet rat today (haven't had one in 4 years) and i just realized that im keeping it really close to my computer, and well i like to listen to death metal i was just wondering will i like....mess up my rat by playing that kind of music near it?     Well, I have a male teddy bear hamster. He is 6 months old. I got him three months ago when he was only three months old, and is still young. I'd like more information on Syrian ; teddy bear hamsters ; so I can do an even better job of taking care of him :) A prime example would be how people say female rats are more rambuncious, and full of energy, where as males like to cuddle more and tire out faster. Is this the same with hamsters? Are there any differences in the way teddy acts by the gender? Any other information on teddy bear hamsters would be great. Also, do female teddys get more hair then males? mine is already six months old and he doesn't have as much hair as my friend's does, even though her's is older. But I heard that they should have all their furr in before that.... ? Anyways, please don't send me links on information about them, it would be easier for you to just explain it and give me direct answers. Also, what place do you recommend to buy a better cage? Thanks! :) Allie, it's really not like that at all. The reason I don't want people sending me links is because I can't click them anyways because my computer is slow and links make it freeze and then I have to reboot it. I also have four cats. I spend MY free time on saterdays volounteering at a local humane society shelter, and I love animals. You are too quick to judge.     I was looking at the classifieds in th paper today and I saw this ad. It said something like: purebred CKC registered yorkies, CKC registered pin-a-rat, and CKC registered Shih Tzus. Prices start at $200-$300. What the crap is a pin-a-rat. I figured it was a Miniature Pinscer/Rat Terrier mix. So how could it be purebred? I know CKC(Continental Kennel Club) sucks but still why would the except something called a pin-a-rat. Its not a recognized breed is it? I never heard of it but I don't think that would ever be accepted as purebred but hey, what do I know. But are people really that dumb to believe that crap?< >
